Ooty sits at roughly 2,240 metres, and the elevation gain from Coimbatore — around 1,500 metres over just a couple of hours of driving — is enough to leave some travellers lightheaded on arrival. Building in a slow first evening rather than a packed itinerary on day one makes a real difference, especially for elderly parents or very young children.
Not every attraction is equally accessible. Elk Falls and the Botanical Garden involve minimal walking and are easy for most mobility levels; Avalanche's forest trek and Catherine Falls' viewpoint steps are better suited to travellers who are comfortable on uneven ground.
