Mudumalai's forest department safaris run in two daily slots — dawn and dusk — and the dawn slot consistently offers better wildlife sightings as animals are most active before the heat sets in.
Permits are limited and allocated by vehicle, so booking ahead (which we handle as part of our Wildlife & Waterfalls package) avoids a wasted early-morning trip to a sold-out counter. Wear muted colours, keep noise low, and bring a zoom lens rather than a flash — flash photography is prohibited near wildlife.
